Fort Bragg King Salmon
Captain Paul Marshall
Well, salmon season finally opened this weekend and there are a few fish here. The water was 53-54 degrees on Saturday, but the water was very clear without a lot of bait. There were some fish caugt. The best count I heard of was 3 fish for two guys. They weren't big fish, but with crab closed all year, we were happy to be fishing. We got a late start Saturday and didn't end up with a fish. The salmon I heard of were all caught before 11:30am. Sunday, the water looked much better and temps were all over the board. I marked temps from 53-59 degrees. The water was a good looking green color. We found a lot more bait, but only picked up up one. It wasn't a big fish, about 24" but I only heard of one other boat with fish on Sunday. The meat looked great and was bright red. It is blowing today and tmorrow. We plan to be back out on Wednesday. The fishing will get better every day.
